Biomedical Therapies for Fatal Diseases documents the history of treating various fatal disease and the progress made on various therapies that have extended life expectancy and alleviated suffering in those afflicted by these diseases. For example, advances in vaccination protocols have rendered some once nearly always fatal diseases nearly extinct. After the introductory explanation, this book explains about causes or mechanisms of fatal diseases such as cancer and ALS, and about recent therapies that may relieve patients' suffering, such as photoimmunotherapy, checkpoint blockade therapy, CAR T cell therapy and current ALS therapy. Furthermore, clinical trials approved by FDA are described.
